Sarah Palin is back.

I’ve already mentioned this once, but it bears revisiting as the maelstrom of namecalling and personal attacks resumes full-force on the Governor of Alaska.

Sarah Palin exists in a strange universe at the moment. Her charm and charisma have overwhelmed those intrepid few brave enough to bring her on recently, and her return-fire on Letterman has put even Dave on the super defensive after his initial mishandling of his apology.

Like her or hate her, Palin strikes deep fear into her enemies because she will continue fighting you, and will never just sulk away. Apparently this is the lesson she learned from her VP run against Obama. She is the anti-McCain in that respect. Rather than playing nice and rising above the morass of negativity directed at all Republicans, she has pulled out the long knives. Attacking Sarah Palin has consequences these days, and you are probably going to lose the battle of public opinion.

Politically, I’m not ready to take the Palin plunge, as I still don’t know enough about her, but this woman is going to be a force in the next election. Congrats to Sarah for surviving her own political assassination, and scaring the crap out of Dave Letterman.

I like to think of her as the gnat that keeps flying around your room even after repeated attempts to squish it between your hands. It’s more being annoyed than fearful, by far.

I don’t think she’s scared Letterman, either. In fact, his ratings have gone up through the roof since she decided to use him to extend her fifteen minutes. I still fail to see how anyone could consider her a “force in the next election.” I mean, really. It’s like saying Ralph Nader is going to be hard to beat.

    a) I don’t think you’re the type of person to be scared by Palin

    b) Your opinion differs from mine on how big a role she’ll play.
